Day 1 - Lisbon Arrival

Welcome to Portugal! Upon your arrival at the Lisbon Airport, meet your driver for your transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Lisbon.

Day 2 - Lisbon

Today after breakfast, meet your driver in the hotel lobby for your day tour. Explore the capital of Portugal’s most intriguing landmarks and highlights on this Lisbon sightseeing tour. Delve into Lisbon’s historic Alfama quarter rich with Moorish tiled buildings and cobblestone alleyways. With your local guide, taste port at a local shop, discover city lure, and walk through the Belém district to admire the Belém Tower, the internationally acclaimed Coach Museum and the Monument to the Discoveries. Overnight in Lisbon.

Day 3 - Lisbon

Today, experience Portugal’s most beautiful attractions on this half-day guided tour of Sintra and Pena Palace. With a guide discover fascinating stories about the Pena Palace and Portuguese history in general. With its rippling mountains, dewy forests thick with ferns, lichen, exotic gardens and glittering palaces, Sintra is like a page torn from a fairy tale. Its Unesco World Heritage–listed centre, Sintra-Vila, is dotted with pastel-hued manors folded into luxuriant hills that roll down to the blue Atlantic. Overnight in Lisbon.

Day 4 - Lisbon to Porto

Check out of your hotel and meet your driver in the hotel lobby for your transfer to your hotel in Porto. En route, visit Fatima & Coimbra. Fatima is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites, a very spiritual (Catholic) sanctuary with a beautifully renovated church, is amazing to visit, regardless of one’s religious beliefs. Another UNESCO heritage site is Coimbra, a pristine town boasting the second oldest university in the world. Upon your arrival in Porto, check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure in Porto. Overnight in Porto.

Day 5 - Porto

Today your driver will take you on a full day tour of Porto. Your day begins with a breathtaking drive along the ocean, passing the Cheese Castle (Castelo de Queijo) and the Arrábida Bridge (Ponte da Arrábida). You will then arrive to the center where you will visit the Historic Centre, Sé Cathedral, Bolhão Market, Santa Catarina shopping street, Clérigos Church and Tower, Lello Bookshop, São Bento Train Station, Stock Exchange Palace finishing at the riverside Ribeira Square where you can enjoy a traditional Portuguese lunch in one of the most beautiful parts of the city. After lunch (not included),  you will traverse the Douro River on the Eiffel inspired Dom Luis Bridge where you will visit a famous port wine cellar for a tour and tasting, learning all about the production, harvesting and transporting of this unique drink.  You will have time to purchase some bottles if desired before heading back to your accommodation.

Day 6 - Porto

Today visit the Douro Valley with your driver. Enjoy a leisurely tour in a private van through this magnificent countryside en route to Portugal’s wine country. The first stop will be the charming town of Amarante, there you will visit, the 16th century Monastery of São Goncalo and the Roman Bridge. After passing through Peso da Regua, you will arrive in Pinhao where you have the option of experiencing an award winning winery, complete with a guided tour, wine tasting and an impressive lunch consisting of Portuguese specialties at the estate. Your tour concludes upon your return to Porto.

Day 7 - Porto to Madrid

This morning after breakfast, check out of your hotel and meet your driver in the hotel lobby for your transfer to the Porto Airport.

Board your flight from Porto to Madrid.

Upon your arrival at the Madrid Airport, meet your driver for your transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure in Madrid. Overnight in Madrid.

Day 8 - Madrid

This afternoon, enjoy a half day walking tour. Your expert guide will introduce you to the Habsburg legacy in Madrid. The Royal Palace, vaulted in stone and brick along the lines of Versailles, was once Carlos III’s residence. The Austrias’ Quarter, with its monasteries, churches and elegant squares such as Plaza Mayor, recalls Spain’s Golden Age when Madrid was the capital of an empire extending from Latin America to the Philippines. Day 9 - Madrid

Today enjoy your morning at leisure.

Start your night off in true Madrid style—surrounded by locals as you sip vermouth and nibble on tapas. Your expert guide will let you in on the secret to this local aperitif tradition as you discover what going for tapas really means here in Spain. Next, head across one of Madrid’s main squares to a popular local tapas bar for a draft beer and delicious bites. You’ll learn the owner’s story and fall in love with the chef’s amazing food.
At the third tapas bar, you’ll taste one of Madrid’s signature tapas, gambas al ajillo—a dish this family-run bar claims to have invented! They’ve been in business since 1906, so we’ll take their word for it! You’ll also be able to order a glass of wine made from the same family’s vineyard in the Toro region. Finally, you’ll squeeze into one of Madrid’s last remaining traditional tapas institutions. By the end of the night, you’ll know exactly what it means to do tapas like a local, and why tapas culture can’t exist outside of Spain (so you’ll have to come back!).

Day 10 - Madrid to Elciego

This morning after breakfast, check out of your hotel and meet your driver in the hotel lobby for your transfer to your hotel in Elciego. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight in Elciego.

Day 11 - Elciego

Uncover the most representative wineries in Rioja with a private Rioja wine tour to discover the highlights of Rioja wine country, tasting wines at different wineries with a tour that includes a selection of the most representative wineries in the region. Visit 3 wineries of contrasted styles where you will taste different wines. From classical options to more modern wines so that you can have the best introduction into Rioja wines. You will visit family run and traditional wineries, cutting edge architectural designs and renowned wineries of Rioja. After your tour your driver will take you back to your accommodation. Day 12 - Elciego to Barcelona

Check out of your hotel and meet your private driver in the hotel lobby for your transfer to your hotel in Barcelona. Check in to your hotel and freshen up before your tour.

In the afternoon, you will visit the eccentric Boquería Market to discover the rich flavors of Barcelona, one of the main gastronomic capitals in the world. You will start off this experience with a walk around the market with the objective to pick out the select, fresh products, which you will then go on to use in the learning of some traditional Spanish cuisine in a class given by a top quality professional chef. During this experience, you will also visit the symbolic Boquería Market, a must-visit for any gourmand. From the most prestigious chefs who rush to personally pick out the most select products at the break of day, to the ‘payesas’ (farmers) from the surrounding areas that sell fruits and vegetables from their own hard-worked crops, the Boquería is one of the most vibrant meeting points in Barcelona. Allow your chef to guide you, unveiling the most preferred stores and leading you to taste the best food in the city.

Day 13 - Barcelona

Today you will enjoy a tour of Barcelona!  On this tour, our expert-guide will take you to get a close-up look at the works of this genius architecture. The tour starts with the visit to La Sagrada Familia, unfinished work and ultimate expression of what Gaudi and Modernism mean for Barcelona. Afterwards, you will move on to discover the most elegant boulevard of Barcelona, the Passeig de Gracia, where you can visit some of the most astonishing creations of Gaudi: La Pedrera and Casa Batlló apart from other exceptional architectures, contemporaneous of Gaudi: the house Amatller by Puig Cadafalch and the house Lleó Morera by Doménech i Montaner. Day 14 - Barcelona Departure

This morning after breakfast, check out of your hotel and meet your driver in the hotel lobby for your transfer to Barcelona El-Prat Airport.
