A narrow and originally infelicitous entrance was the starting point for a rewarding itinerary full of surprises. In Via Margutta, a dazzling white entrance with the gleaming surfaces of statuary marble leads to the dramatic space of an unusual and astonishing lobby. Because of its location and spatial features, the 4 star Hotel Art has been designed as a hotel for art, the home of art in all its multifaceted manifestations. The architectural aspects are evident in the interior space of this deconsecrated chapel, distinguished by an unusual row of pillars aligned with the altar, that has been renovated for a new and innovative use. Architecture also emerges in the motifs on the silk-screened windowpanes. Bramante, Borromini, Michelangelo, Palladio, Leonardo da Vinci and Le Corbusier bear witness to the art of building through their marvelous and easily recognizable works. Reflecting the enthusiasm conveyed by the hotel owners in this daring design project, the concept of D’Après was used as a way to interpret the art world and its emblematic figures. Each room has been dedicated to a contemporary artist and each artist to a master of yesteryear, using the vision and sensitivity of the present as a way to interpret the past. Altogether a total of 46 works, by 46 contemporary artists specially commissioned by Palenca Luxury Hotels, decorate the rooms of the Hotel Art by the Spanish Steps.
