 Cooking in Sicily
 8 days / 7 nights

Day 1-Palermo
Welcome to the beautiful island of Sicily! Upon arrival at Palermo airport pick up your rental car. Self drive to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 2-Palermo/Monreale
Enjoy a full day at leisure to explore on your own. Why not drive to the town of Monreale, famous for the Arab-Norman art and architecture that reached the pinnacle of its glory with the amazing Duomo, launched in 1174 by William II. End the day with cannoli, a typical Sicilian dessert!

Day 3-Erice, SaltWay Road
Explore western Sicily and head to lovely Erice, a town that was an important religious site associated with goddesses of fertility. A must is to taste the famous almond pastry and the sweet Sicilian marzipan. Continue to scenic Trapani along the Salt Way Road to tour the historic saltpan works, where the ancient tradition of harvesting salt from the sea is still practiced.

Day 4-Cooking Class/Agrigento
Today you will have your first cooking lesson in the town of Sant’Angelo Muxaro. You will be in awe of the spectacular view you will have after driving through winding roads between mountains and hills. On a lonely hill, in the centre of the valley of the river Platani and surrounded by a wild and harsh vegetation, a handful of homes lie on the sheer slope of the hill itself… this is the small town of Sant’Angelo Muxaro. On arrival meet Donna Concetta. She will teach you the secrets to creating an Italian favourte - pizza and bread! After the lesson enjoy a simple light lunch to taste what you have learned to prepare. Make your way to Agrigento and settle into your hotel.

Day 5-Agrigento/Piazza Armerina/Taormina
While in Agrigento don’t miss the famous Valley of the Temples with its unique architecture. As you make your way to Taormina we suggest a stop in Piazza Armerina to admire the ruins of the Roman Villa del Casale, the mosaics discovered here are exceptional.

Day 6-Cooking Class
This morning meet your chefs, Antonio Orlando and Donna Maria at their restaurant. They will take you to the nearby fruit market to purchase fruit, vegetables and all the ingredients necessary to begin the cooking class. You will learn the secrets to preparing typical Sicilan dishes and finally eat what you have prepared. The afternoon is yours to explore the town, shop or relax.

Day 7-Taormina/Etna Volcano
Dedicate time to visit Mt. Etna, Europe’s largest active volcano. Experience the lava fields and the incredible view from Europe’s highest volcano.

Day 8-Taormina/Catania
Return your rental car to the Catania Airport or add a few extra days on this magical island.
