 The Dordogne Valley

From the Perigord to the vineyards of Bordeaux, through a land rich in history and
gastronomy. Few regions of France can claim to be ‘undiscovered’ – this is one of them.

Day 1-Bergerac

Pick up your rental car at the airport and head towards Bergerac. Take a stroll on the old
bridge, from where you can see the Dordogne river. Overnight in a charming country hotel in the heart of the Perigord.

Day 2-Périgueux
Visit Périgueux and its charming old quarter of narrow streets and sunny squares. Don’t miss the Cathédrale Saint Front, a World Heritage Site.

Day 3–Bordeaux
Head to Bordeaux, classified city of Art and History, its main sites include the Esplanade des Quinconces, the Colonnes des Girondins, the Grand Théatre and many others. After sightseeing make your way to your next hotel located in the Charente region.

Day 4-Cognac
Spend the day in Cognac, a picturesque old town with preserved mansions of the 17th and 18th centuries, the Château des Valois and the Romanesque/ Gothic church of St-Léger. Don’t forget to taste the drink from which the town is nameed!

Day 5-Angoulême
Visit Angoulême, encircled by
boulevards above the old city walls, known as the Remparts, from which fine views can be enjoyed in all directions. The old town has been preserved and is now a charming cobbled restaurant quarter, with interesting galleries and boutiques.

Day 6-Limoges
Spend the day in Limoges, known for its fine porcelain and painted enamelware, cultural activities and botanical gardens. Among many other historical sites, you can visit the Crypt of Saint Martial from the 10th century, the Gothic Cathedral of St.Etienne, noted for the octagonal bell tower and the Chapelle Saint Aurelien.

Day 7-Poitiers
Spend your last day in Poitiers, called the city with one hundred bells and known for its early Romanesque churches. Return your rental car. Why not end your trip in Paris?
